The Shure PG14/PG185 Performance Gear Wireless Lavalier Microphone System includes the PG4 Diversity Receiver, PG1 Bodypack Transmitter, and PG185 discreet Condenser Lavalier Microphone for presenting. With the Shure Performance Gear PG Series Wireless systems you get a reliable, portable system with up to 10 selectable frequencies and frequency agility. Up to 8 compatible wireless systems can be used simultaneously across multiple bands. The Shure Performance Gear Wireless Lavalier System transmits over a 75m (250 ft.) operating range with almost wired specification of 45Hz-15kHz frequency response and a dynamic range greater than 100 dB A-weighted.
UHF wireless systems, as used in the Shure Performance Gear Wireless Lavalier Microphone System, operate in a higher frequency range than VHF systems. The VHF range is very highly populated with traffic, and because the VHF signal has a longer wave length, VHF radio signals pass through non-metallic walls easier than a UHF signal, making VHF wireless systems more prone to radio interference. Though more expensive than VHF wireless, UHF is well worth the extra cost.

The Shure PG4 Diversity Receiver features dual internal 1/4 wave antennas that eliminate potential for antenna misalignment and damage. The PG4 uses a variable companding ratio based on Shure's patented Audio Reference Companding and delivers a cleaner, less noisy signal that's more true-to-life than 2:1 companding. A Companding circuit compresses the signal's dynamic range during transmission and expands the dynamic range after reception so reduces the system's noise level.
The Shure PG4 is a true diversity receiver with two internal antennas. The PG4 continuously samples the output from the two antennas, and seamlessly selects the strongest signal, ensuring drop-out and interference free reception even in the most difficult RF spaces.
