The AKG Perception 220 large diaphragm cardioid condenser mic combines the cost advantages of Chinese manufacturing with AKG proven designs. The Perception 220 is a general purpose 1-inch large diaphragm microphone bringing AKG studio quality to all areas of recording, both voice and instrument, specifically projects studios and live sound applications. The AKG Perception 220 is a cardioid pattern, large diaphragm true capacitor microphone. Powered by +48V phantom power, the Perception 220 body is solidly made from cast alloy with a robust dual-mesh steel grille and contains two switches, a low-cut filter and -20dB pad. If you need to place the Perception 220 close to a chesty-voiced singer or a bass-heavy instrument, the mic has a low-frequency roll-off switch that engages a 12 dB-per-octave filter at 300Hz to minimize the boominess associated with the proximity effect of a cardioid patterned mic. The AKG Perception 220 can be used in sound fields as high as 155dB, thanks to the switchable -10dB pre-attenuation pad. With an A-weighted noise figure of 16 dBA (signal to noise figure of 78 dBA), the Perception 220 is more than adequate for close-miked vocals and other studio instrument applications. The AKG Perception 220 ships with a full-size heavy-duty spider-type studio shockmount that eliminates mic stand vibration or footfalls from interfering with your recording and includes a hardshell metal road case to protect the mic from damage.
