As a digital multi-track recorder, the Zoom R16 provides 8-track simultaneous recording and 16-track playback of high-definition 24-bit 48kHz linear PCM WAV format files to Secure Digital SD memory cards. The Zoom R16 ships with a 1GB SD card included and supports both SD and SDHC cards up to 32GB for 108-hours 12-minutes recording at 16-bit 44.1kHz linear PCM audio files format. The Zoom R16 is powered via USB for studio operation or via batteries for remote location recording. The Zoom R16 includes a built-in stereo condenser microphone. Need more tracks? Connect two Zoom R16 via USB for synchronized operation and 16 tracks of simultaneous recording capability.
If you do not want to record to SD memory cards, the Zoom R16 also functions as a 8-input / 2-output high definition 24-bit 96kHz USB audio interface with 8 balanced XLR mic and 1/4-inch jack combo inputs and 1 Hi-Z input for electric guitars and basses. 48V phantom power is provided on two channels for powering studio quality condenser microphones. Over 100 DSP effects including mastering effects, multi-band compressor, normaliser and guitar amp and effects models are built-in the Zoom R16 recorder. Connect the Zoom R16 to a computer and use it as a USB storage device and transfer SD-recorded tracks to the computer for mixdown, archiving, e-mailing or posting online. The Zoom R16 ships bundled with Steinberg Cubase LE4 music production software.
For mixing purposes the Zoom R16 contains over 100 built-in studio effects plus amazing guitar amplifier and effects models. You can process tracks with reverb, delay, distortion effects. Plus, the Zoom R16 is loaded with professional-grade mastering effects, to finalize songs for publishing. During mixing once you've recorded your tracks and transferred them to a computer, the Zoom R16 digital SD recorder functions as a USB control surface with Mackie control emulation for popular DAW software recording packages including Cubase, Live, Logic, and Digital Performer for easy mix down.
