The Zoom H4 Handy Digital Recorder is ideal for recording live musical performances, interviews, podcasts, meetings, classes and seminars.

The Zoom H4 combines three functions in a single product. First, the H4 is a stereo field recorder with built-in X-Y condenser mics. Second, it's a 4-track recorder so you can put together tracks wherever you are. Finally, the H4 functions as a USB 2.0 audio interface that allows you to record directly into your computer. If you want to use external mics, the Zoom H4 offers two XLR inputs with +48-volt phantom power. Plus, the H4 is loaded with recording effects including a mic modeller and guitar effects drawn from the Zoom G2. Combine all this with incredible ease of use and complete portability and the H4 is a winner!

The Zoom H4 records linear PCM WAV format at up to 24-bit/96-kHz sampling rates or compressed MP3 format at up to 320kbps bit rates. Audio input is via built-in X-Y true stereo electret condenser microphones, or 2 XLR-1/4" line/mic/instrument combo inputs with phantom power for an external pair of microphones. For the guitarist, 1/4-inch Hi-Z instrument inputs and on-board effects such as guitar and bass amplifier modelling effects compression, limiting and mic modelling allow jamming to the recorded tracks. A 4-track recording mode with CD quality, 16-bit/44.1 kHz resolution makes the Zoom H4 the perfect scratch-pad for songwriters. Monitoring is via an 1/8-inch headphone jack . The H4 offers a backlit 128 x 64 LCD display for visual feedback of the recording process. Using just two AA batteries, the H4 can provide up to four hours of continuous recording. A 512MB Secure Digital card is included with the H4. With an optional 2GB SD memory card, the H4 provides up to 380 minutes of recording in 16-bit PCM mode (CD quality) and 34 hours in MP3 stereo mode.

A USB interface allows the transfer and backing up of audio files to and from your PC or Mac, or the Zoom H4 can be used as a USB audio interface to record directly into a computer DAW. The Zoom H4 ships bundled with Cubase LE Digital Audio MIDI Workstation sequencing software for easy editing, mixing and mastering of your recordings on either Windows or Mac. Cubase LE offers 48 audio and 64 MIDI tracks, 2 insert and 4 effects sends per channel, full mix automation, score editing and up to 8 VST instruments.
