My Zoom H1 made its assignment debut at the Dubai Marathon in January where I filed numerous reports and interviews for BBC WS and VOA. It was excellent, far easier to use than the Zoom H4 which has given good service for 3 years but adjusting the audio level is so fiddly. The H1 is simple to use - I always use and external mic - and adjusting levels was simple. Easy to hold but one warning - on trials at home the on/off switch dropped out! So I've stuck a small piece of sellotape over it as a precaution. Otherwise it's far better value than the H4 for me as a speech/news reporter.

I got the Zoom H1 recorder last week and haven't put it down since. I do a lot of work in the field recording and its the best I've used at this price point. Excellent.

Was not expecting the world for a recorder at the price but the recorded sound quality is top notch, and the features are very impressive. Small, perfect for fixing to a video camera for good audio, and I have used to it record presentations too a fair distance from the presentor and the quality is 10/10. Highly recommended.
