The Yamaha Arius YDP-161 Digital Piano, in Dark Rosewood is a superb piano by Yamaha, with all the benefits of a digital piano. 88-note graded hammer action keybed and top quality piano samples makes this Arius YDP-161 a first choice for the beginner to intermediate player.

The Yamaha Arius YDP 161 provides real piano sound and feel. The GH keyboard and 3-level AWM Dynamic Stereo Sampling voices deliver remarkably realistic sound and expressiveness, making it a true joy to play, both in practice and in performance. Moreover, the damper pedal includes a half-damper effect, giving you true expressive control over the sustained sound. Dual voice capability lets you play two different instrument sounds at the same time, while a 2-track song recorder allows for the capturing of your original musical ideas and performances.

This piano from Yamaha looks great, plays a treat, and is a superb investment - being a digital piano it doesn't go out of tune, has more than one piano sound, and you can practice with headphones. Looking to buy a piano in London or online, this is the place to get a deal.

Yamaha Arius YDP-161 Review

The fortunate thing about working in a music equipment shop is that we get to play all the instruments and make some serious noise. Our piano expert is not impressed with the distortion from guitars he hears all day, so we got him to write a review of a piano. Here he goes…

I get the honour of playing many pianos on display, and to try out new ones even before they are released at trade events. About 95% of the pianos I play on are pretty good value for money, but it must be said that there are a few ‘dogs’ that get released too. Come into the shop and I’ll tell you which ones they are! I get most satisfaction from telling and advising people which digital piano to choose, and am proud to sell them a piano that will suit their needs.

Which leads me on to the Yamaha Arius YDP-161 – a piano that I’ve sold very many of because simply put it’s a fine digital piano. Better than the YDP-141, the YDP-161 has a lovely key action, fantastic piano sounds, and looks very classy. It is available in three finishes: Rosewood, Cherry, and Satin Black. Of the three I don’t rate the Cherry finish much, but customers that choose it often tell me it suits the rest of the furniture. The Rosewood and Satin Black look quality.

Under the hood, the piano samples are from a famous grand piano (CFIIIS for those who know) and you can hear the quality. It has 3-level sampling which allows for expressive playing.

The keybed is an 88-note keybed with graded hammer action, which means is feels very realistic – the keys on the the left are slightly firmer than those on the right, as with an acoustic piano.

The Yamaha YDP-161 has a MIDI in and out so you can connect to a computer, or even control external modules.

The Arius YDP-161 has 50 preset songs and also a recording function, so you can listen back to your playing and listen out for mistakes.

This is of course a digital piano so has a headphone output with volume control. The advantage of this being digital is silent rehearsing, it never goes out of tune, and will last a long time.

I highly rate the Yamaha Arius YDP-161 digital piano.
