PROPELLERHEAD RECORD MUSIC PRODUCTION SOFTWARE

Propellerhead Record is set to take the world by storm. Since its inception, Reason has never been able to record audio from external sources, as fully fledged DAW applications can. But with Record, users can capture multiple tracks of audio simultaneously; there’s even an audio mixer with a sound “faithfully modelled after the renowned SSL 9000K” console.

Record is a stand-alone application that comes with a number of Reason’s audio processors, such as the RV7000 reverb processor. It also has a new module, called ID8, which provides the Record user with a selection of virtual instruments. What’s more, there’s a software recreation of the Line 6 Pod, with basic models, to give guitarists a selection of amp and cabinet sounds (although users with other Line 6 software models can access them through Record).

But for those who already own a copy of Reason, Record can access the instruments, effects and processors from the Reason rack, and record an unlimited number of audio tracks alongside the previously all-MIDI parts.

For guitarists, there's a built-in virtual Pod from Line 6. This ships with a variety of models as standard, and if you plug in your Pod hardware, all the other ones you own will be available for selection from within Record.

Other features include audio-specific tools, such as a comp editor for joining multiple takes, and a real-time time-stretching processor that lets you “play now and pick the tempo later”.

You can buy Propellerhead Record music software online from the UK at Camden Sounds.
