THE DENON DNC620 1U RACK MOUNT CD/MP3/WAV PLAYER
The Denon DNC620 1u Rack Mount CD/MP3/WAV Player has both balanced and unbalanced analogue outputs as well as S/PDIF and AES/EBU digital outputs and is intended for broadcast and other professional use. WAV and MP3 files on CD-R/RW discs can be replayed as well as CD-DA. CD Text and CD Extra formats are supported. The player offers vari-speed and extensive remote control capability.
The device has a number of cueing modes as well as the normal CD search and location features, including programme play and looping. Other broadcast-specific functions include 'Skip Back', which instantly repeats the last few seconds (time programmable) of material, and 'End Monitor', which previews the last few seconds of the track about to be played. Parallel, RS232-C serial and basic, wired, remote-control ports are provided. The RS-232C port is able to transmit CD Text, ISO and ISRC codes, track-time and number and other data. The DN-C620 is supplied with a comprehensive infra-red remote control unit, which includes volume control as well as all the player’s transport and locating functions.
The front panel has a blue, multi-function, LED display showing time and track data and other disc information. Transport controls are 'Play/Pause', 'Stop' and 'Fwd' and 'Rev Search'. There are also buttons for 'Cue', 'Skip Back', which repeats the last section of audio, the duration being user-definable, and 'Playmode', which selects continuous or repeat play. An A-B button sets up loop-start and end points. A 'Pitch' button enables vari-speed mode, the speed being adjusted by the rotary encoder knob to +/- 12% (2 semitones) of nominal. The encoder performs 'Next' and 'Previous' functions when in normal playback. Other buttons select the time display to show the total or remaining time of the track or disc, or the elapsed time of the current track, and access the setup menu. Several of the controls have second functions when used with the 'Shift' key; these include eject 'Lock', 'Text' display, 'End Mon'(itor), and index or directory access. An 'Eject' button activates the slot-loading disc drawer, unless it is locked. There is a 6.35mm 3-pole jack socket for headphones, with a level control, and a large, latching power button with blue LED.
On the rear, connectivity consists of two pairs of RCA (phono) sockets, for left and right, fixed and variable-level, unbalanced, analogue outputs. Balanced left and right analogue outputs are available on XLR male connectors; preset level-trim controls are provided for each output. Digital outputs are S/PDIF (IEC-958 Type II) from an RCA (phono) socket and AES/EBU on an XLR male. The RS232-C serial remote control port is a 9-pin female D-sub connector, and the parallel remote control port a 25-pin female D-sub connector. The AC power input is an IEC receptacle.
