35 years on and it's still amazing

When I was a teenager I persuaded my mother to pay for an Eko 12 string from John Holmes Music centre in Bristol. It was £66 then and I had to pay her back from my Saturday job. It was an amazing guitar because of the sound it made and the great action which was astonishing for such a cheap guitar. A few years ago I gave the guitar to my daughter when she was learning to play and half regretted the decision ever since.

When I recently found out that Eko were still in business and they had a 50th Anniversary edition I had to get one.

It's beautiful. As soon as my fingers touched the neck and played the first chord it still amazed me how well made these guitars actually are. In my opinion they are equivalent to the Stradivarius of their day. It looks delightful on my wall and plays like a dream. I love the lighter wood colouring and the neck inlays and the fact that you get a case nowadays too.

I'm so impressed I've just ordered a 50th Anniversary 6 string to go with it. As for Camden Sounds. They've been brilliant. They've been quick (2 days from order to delivery) no fuss and they got it all right.

I'd thoroughly recommend any Eko Ranger 12 fan to get one of these anniversary editions before they go and I'd recommend Camden Sounds as the place to get it.

The legendary Ranger 12 string just got better!

I had high expectations of this special 50th anniversary model and i can honestly say I am not disappointed. It looks and sounds fantastic. Although my heart wanted an Eko 12 string I did try several other guitars first, a Seagul S12, Ibanez EW20, Guild JF30, Faith Saturn and a few Yamaha models, this Eko Ranger anniversary spec was certainly an equal to the best of the bunch and to my mind the sound and look of the Eko gave it the edge. Plus, as this is a limited edition it's going to become a collectors piece i'm sure.

The guitar comes with an Eko hard case and is strung with Elixir strings.

I also have to say I was extremely pleased with the service I received from Camden Sounds, guitar was delivered next day and they were quick to respond to any queries I had prior to purchase.
